Collaboration with Steph Howell

I also collaborated with Steph in her final third year film. I made some books, a ladder, a chair, some boxes and two brooms for her. The props I made for Steph won't be interacted with by her puppets but they will be featured in the shots.

Check out Steph's blog, her puppets are so good! I also love her set, can't wait to see the final film!

I started making the ladder out of timber lining and dowel, the brooms are also made from dowel and the bristles of the brushes stuck on in separate parts using epoxy glue.

The chair is made from MDF, timber lining and cut up skewers. Varnished with two coats of walnut wood varnish.

The books are made from offcuts of balsa wood, timber, plywood, MDF, hardboard and chipboard. Covered and glued individually with leather from old shoes and red card. Then the binding drawn on with a gold gel pen. Weathered the books using baby oil and old make-up bronzer to add markings.

The cardboard boxes were made from cardboard, then weathered using a craft knife and sandpaper. Used baby oil and super glue to make markings to get a colour difference on the boxes.
