Uh oh, here we go, The Painting Strikes Back - Revenge of the Photoshop.

So it's coming up to a year since I bought Photoshop and a Wacom tablet to do some digital paintings so I thought I would do a post dedicated to the ones that I've done. Starting with the very first attempts (shocking) and gradually improving as I get more used to this method of painting. Moving forward with the times. Who are you and what have you done with Sophie?

"Drawing is exercise for a restless imagination." - Tim Burton

I found a new reinvented love for drawing during my second year at Uni, as opposed to the first year where it was all a bit new and I didn't like rules and restrictions. So second year gave us a lot more freedom of the subjects, style and direction we wanted to take our work in which makes it so much better. Drawing and painting is my way of expressing feelings and emotions, its a chance to get all the thoughts in your head together and down on paper without too much interference of words. Genuinely feel weightless and its so comforting.
Here are a sample of the drawings I did throughout second year ready to hand in for the Visual Forms module...

Some studies of the human form in life drawing classes

Some studies of cakes for Visual Forms: Chosen Theme of Marketplace

Quick studies of landscapes and places

Studies of objects, animals and random stuff really!

Let's get down to buisiness...

As the summer started I decided to make a book of all the things I'd made during my second year. Something 'real' that showcases my work as I'm a bit old fashioned and trusting technology to keep all of my valuable photos is a fear I have yet to overcome!
Also, it was all completely free to make, send and buy - great!

I made some business cards for the USW Animotion Show just in case, will be making new ones as a part of the third year business module but I strangely have so much fun making things like this!

And lastly I created a Facebook page where I intend to start commission work properly after Uni because I believe social media is one of the best ways to get my work out there and be seen. And if people like what they see, they can hopefully & eventually buy what they see! It's a start.
